Microsoft publisher

On an earlier version of office I used publisher to create some files.

 

The version I now use doesnt have publisher. Consequently I cant access these files. If I re load the old version it conflicts with the newer version.

 

Is there any free soft ware I can use to allow me to access and print these old files?

Unfortunately that will only allow me to print off a single run. I will need to do more later.

 

This printing is only an occasional thing, thats why I draw the line at paying for the full version.

You could use the MS publisher trial to print it to a high quality pdf with free PDF software. You can then print the resulting file at will on a real printer whenever you want. I've recently been using PrimoPDF with good results, as long as you pick the highest quality PDF it can create.
