Batteries for Micron M alarms

Just when I thought I was all ready for the spring fishing, I went to replace the old batteries in my Microns only to find they don't take the 9v batteries I thought they did (and had already bought at great expense!) but silly little things called Duracel N - like an AA but about half the length.

Does anyone know where I can buy these in the high street shops? I can get them online but don't have time for delivery, and can't find anywhere else that sells them. The nearest I've come is PC World, which does sell them but is out of stock.

Help!

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

When are you going Andrew? Wantage has one of those 'sell everything' shops which carries a range of batteries including most of the small circular ones, they may have them I'll pop in tonight and have a look. They're also known as LR1 which I think are used in cameras so if you have a photography shop near you might be worth trying them.

It's never a 'six', let's put it back

Aha, nice one Rusty! LR1, let's try that again...

Thanks very much for the offer but I'm going after work on Wednesday so time is short. Nothing like a last-minute panic is there...

The alarms came with the batteries already in and I've had them about 10 years now - I can't believe they've lasted that long! They still work too, but make quite a creepy warble.

Make sure you buy the right spec battery's, there's two different specs in that size and one of them doesn't work in the M's!

Pound shops and Asian shops generally have them for much cheapness.

In an emergency, either try to borrow some alarms, or use a bit of silver paper and watch it move up and down :):)

The two best times to go fishing are when it's raining and when it's not

I buy mine from tescos, I have some spares but I was going to get more too just in case. The Abingdon and Didcot tescos had them the other day. I have also got them from the hardware store in Wingham village before. They have lots of different names:

LR1

N

E90

KN

MN9100

4001

Boots do them pretty cheaply and 3 for 2 at the mo!

Oh and Jessops will have them although they will probably be more expensive!
