wagon wheels

just microwaved one for a few seconds and its awsome

Sounds like it could make a nice desert, maybe with a few scoopes of ice cream. I think I may just add a packet to the trolley the next time I am shopping. The problem will be getting them home to the microwave with out eating them all on the journey.

Ahhhhhhhh the Wagon Wheel, a true classic in the biscuit world :D

lol, just noticed you're reply.

never tried a deep fried mars bar and doubt i ever will

I was in a chippy in Alexandria once (Lomond not Egypt) and thought I'd have a pie to be a little bit more healthy after all the bacon fry ups I'd been living on for a few days. Straight into the deep fat fryer it went! It's a wonder anyone reaches 40 north of the border.

I have to admit it actually wasn't half as bad as I expected it to be, not greasy and soggy like you'd think. There's probably so much lard in the pastry that it repels the cooking oil!

everything in a chippy is deep fried. apart from pizzas perhaps. even those they deep fry if asked for and to be honest half a deep fried onion pizza in batter is pretty damn good.

you must have got a good chippy im not sure why (must be the temperature and quality of the oil) but good ones can cook the food without it being greasy as you would imagine.

the pizza sees none of the oil just the batter. result is a nice crispy outer shell with soft pizza bread with gooey cheese melted from the heat!

Foods generally only absorb fat when the fat isn't hot enough. Pizzas and pies form a skin almost immediately. That's why they aren't sodden with fat.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

Round about 1958/9 four of us went up to Scotland for a week camping, we had been there for a couple of days and we went in a chippy for tea.

Three of us ordered fish and chips and the fourth ordered a pie and same as yours it went straight into the fryer, we couldn't believe it.

My mate says eh what you do that for and the guy replied you do want it hot and cooked i suppose.

Mate said it was OK.

Andy i can remember when a wagon wheel was nearly a meal in itself not like the piddly little things they sell today. :)

Cheers Fred
