I don't know the water, but if you suspect they are not used to seeing pellets and boilies etc it may well be worth tackling the venue with more traditional baits such as corn, maggots and worms. I don't know if this would cause a problem with attracting other species, but it may be worth a try.

A big bunch of maggots fished on a maggot clip with a PVA bag of them might just do the trick.

Heres what i would do if i was approaching the lake, as i do not know it this is what i would do.

How well do you know the water?

Have you done any investigation, ie marker rod and float to get an idea of depth and what the bottom of lake is like?

Is there any obvious features to fish against?

Have you sat about and watched for fish movement, on any water i spend 24hrs watching it while i am fishing it. Get to know where the fish are and go after them.

Talk to other anglers, this one i see you have tried.

You have a few options on the bait front

1) Like it has been said try the naturals, like hemp, sweetcorn, maize, particles. I would make a method mix of them and target the fish that way.

2) Pre bait with a good quality boillie, get those carp used to a certain bait, i would use a mainline bait but that is just my preference.

3) Cast at showing fish

4) Try a different rig, not saying that the rig you are using is not a carp catcher it may be that the carp you are targetting are used to it and so are avoiding it.

5) Have you tried the margins, best fished over nighttime as there is less disturbance.

6) Hi viz bait, pineapple pop up (again I like mainline)

7) Keep a record in a book and take photos

The key here is time and patience, until you find out what works keep trying. I general fish one lake for 3-5yrs, by then i know generally where the fish are and what they do in relation to weather patterns and what bait they are taking at what time of year.

I could go on and on with this, there is so much you could try.

Let me know how you get on, hope some of this helps

STC ;)

It was the fish i tell you, they were talking to me !!!

hmm. try this:

black peparmi: very very spicey and bluddy hot so do not eat it unless you can put it on cam and we can watch it lol

halibut pellets i have 16mm ones but i know the can go smaller.

also if you are using boiles cut the edges make them look different spod the sh*t out of the area, how big are the carp there and how many are in the lake?

It might help if you gave us an idea of what you have tried so far, methods, baits, tactics etc.

Did a Google search and pinched this from the website

Good quality 18mm boilies on a hair rig catch the carp, the lake is full of features and its best to cast towards any of them, and sit quietly and wait and hope that your luck is in. If you fish on a Saturday ask the bailiff Andy to show you where the most recent hot spots are. What he doesn't know about the lake is probably not worth knowing. Ask him nicely and he may show you the dozens of big carp that he has caught and if you are lucky he will tell you how and where he caught them. Tench are regularly caught over seven pounds, they like sweet corn, sweet flavoured boilies and lob worms. Fish to the bubbles. The Perch, Rudd and roach abound with bread maggot and luncheon meat doing the trick.

Hope this helps

The two best times to go fishing are when it's raining and when it's not
