Draper mains power tools...any good?

I was just in the local Focus and noticed Draper 810w mains electric drills for less than £25. I didn't know they did power tools. At that price they're obviously not top of the range but, if they're likely to last a year then they'll be better than the Bosch rubbish at twice the price!

Anybody tried one?

They're about the same as the B&Q own brand stuff (power-something, grey and red). They're perfectly good for general DIY use. I'd say go for it but it does depend how much you intend to use it tbh. They're built to a price after all but at least you're not paying for the name.

(Dad got a Draper after I blew up his Bosch mixing plaster and I've got the B&Q jobbie)

Draper, Hilka, Blackspur, Silverline; all pretty much the same, if you don't use them very often they are reasonably good value.

I bought a Hilka 4" angle grinder for just one job at home about 5 years ago, I can't often use it at work cos it's 240 volt but I use it when I can now instead of a junior hacksaw. It won't owe me anything when it dies.

810 watt is quite a large motor for a drill, is it a pretty big one? I think my Metabo SDS is only about 700watts.

I do believe that DRAPER are MADE by Bosch?? Don't quote me but I at one time did a replacement of tools in TEXAS (Yes the DiY store not the country) And the marketing company had SKIL and DRAPER tools and ONLY worked for Bosch??!!

MEANWHILE back on the ranch. Anyone have ANYTHING to do with AEG tools please?? I need a trigger unit for a drill I just bought and it is duff. But even AEG UK are unable to help me??!!

It is to be observed that 'angling' is the name given to fishing by people who can't fish.

If GOD had NOT meant us to go fishing, WHY did he give us arms then??

(If you can't help out someone in need then don't bother my old Dad always said! My grandma put it a LITTLE more, well different! It's like peeing yourself in a black pair of pants she said! It gives you a LOVELY warm feeling but no-one really notices!))

They're not really cut out for it are they. My B&Q one has mixed countless loads of plaster and apart from looking better than the walls on my house, its been fine. Just stop when it gets a bit, ahem, warm...
