HELP THE KIDS

hunter

Recommended Posts

 I watched two adult anglers fishing a local stillwater on sunday.Three young lads came to the bank set up and started to fish ,10lb line size 8 hooks and a tub of maggots and were catching nothing. One of the lads went and asked the other anglers for advice, f**k off {GREAT ADVICE}was there answer. My turn came next no problem i set them up with line and hooks, told them how to fish there swim and watched them catch loads of perch and roach. Our two adults caught f**k all packed up and left.It cost nothing a few hooks some line and a few kind words, maybe they will keep fishing and see we are not all grumpy adults.I've been an angler for over 30 years and an adult for -- years{wife dosent agree what woman does lol}we all know kids can be a pain but come on help them out it dosent cost much :):):):):):):)

Even though I have only returned to fishing for the last couple of years, I try to be as helpful to the younger generation as I can, I pass on what little knowledge I have to help youngsters get interested in the sport of fishing.

I also took my grandson out to fish, last year he caught his first mirror carp, his face says it all

I cannot understand why anybody who likes to fish and has a little knowledge of the sport won't help the few kids of today that want to fish.

I still remember a day on the Severn estuary (Clevedon Pier) when I was about 8 or 9 I lost most of my tackle and coudn't fish, my line wouldnt reach the water! An adult came from the other end of the pier gave me some line and terminal tackle and showed me how to set it up, I dont remember if I caught anything but his kindness has never been forgotten. I'll always try to do the same if the opportunity arises.

Dan

There's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore like an idiot!

Hi all,

Totally agree with you hunter, if more anglers gave the youngsters a bit of help and encouragement then our sport might just have a future.

As you rightly say it costs pence but the difference it can make to a young anglers day is priceless.

Well done mate, those lads will remember your help and who knows that may have been the start of a wonderful fishing future for those three.

Cheers,

Ian

Hunter - I think you did well and wish more would do the same.

A couple of questions if I could since I am from way out of town and somewhat ignorant on many things dealing with your part if the world.

You list your occupation as "portering supervisor". I have no idea what that might be and would love to know.

Also from your profile "reading/playing DF2. Again ????
