A nice story about Chris Yates

I was on the phone to Chris Lythe the centrepin maker last night, and he told me a nice story about Chris Yates.

Chris L was in the Medlar Press stand at one of the usual shows, and Chris Yates was there. A man came up to him with his little 8 year old boy.

"Please Mr. Yates, can my son shake your hand because he thinks the world of you".

Chris Y shakes the boy's hand, and while doing so, is searching for something in his pocket. He pulls out a pebble.

"Have you heard of Redmire?" he says to the boy.

"He's worn the video out watching that episode" says his dad.

"Well", says Chris, "That pebble came from the Dam wall at Redmire. It's my lucky pebble, and I want you to have it".

Apparently the boy was so overcome he burst into tears, and the dad couldn't stop shaking Chris Yate's hand.

What a nice man.

Dear Spindle,

What a lovely story.

Only Chris Yates could come up with a gesture made to a small boy that encompasses the true magic of what fishing is all about. In doing so, Chris lit the fire within that boys angling soul that will last forever.

Indeed, such a story demonstrates the perfect example of why Chris Yates is endeared throughout the angling world.

What better way to remind us all just how special our fishing is, and how special one of its caring characters clearly is.

Long live Chris Yates. And long live the true spirit of angling that he gives to one and all.

Regards,

Lee.
