  4. g.l. You may find it helpful if your flyline doesn't cover the fish but lands short of your wildies and you only cover them with a looonnnngggg leader. Always glad to help

  6. Re Des Taylor; Dick Walker used to pull off column writing, week in week out. His technique was to say something contentious and then live off it for a month or two. People would write in and oppose him which would keep him going. Even the great all rounder had a system. It takes an incredible wealth of experience, some original thinking and the will to pull it off, to succeed..
  7. Finally, someone who knows what he is talking about with regards to fly fishing. I bet he even does it!
  8. New ponds and lakes take up "valuable flood storage capacity". By not allowing lakes and ponds to be created they can allow more concrete and tarmac in towns and green belt. Nice one!

  10. I have been worried, along with our E.A. fisheries officer for six months now. It looks really bad and as the behaviour of the E.A. middle and upper management showed me when they pushed through the Trout and Grayling fisheries Strategy through, they are capable of anything. Tossers!

  12. """In the 10 years or so of fishing just for Carp I've only ever had one hook-pull, and that was my fault in putting the landing net in an awkward place!""" Gibbo tollerates 1% hook pulls. I have to live with 5% (1in 20), which for the fish I fish for is heart breaking (1 fish a year). What is your %? I want what youv'e got!! I need to see your rigs mate. In 25 years of carping I have had hundreds!
  13. The people who fish in my fish farm get bitten by two alsations!

  15. ""I have seen this combination in use and the people using it are the hauling brigade, the fish do not stand a chance. "" The fish aren't supposed to have a chance once hooked. What are the options?
  16. Chris, I haven't used the Fox #5. There is no need to change from a system I feel confident with. Other anglers may feel they can obtain an edge here and use them, the hooks are not illegal and it is their choice. If you have seen 'nasty damage' as a direct result of these hooks then you need to talk on a bigger stage than this, it is your duty. You have my opinion. Op -JB

And my local doesn't stock sea leads! Ta"" 4 hours drive from the sea! I didn't realise anyone was that far in-land...you dont drive a skoda do you?

  21. Why create a machine to tie them when the little Chinese girls will do them for fractions of a penny? I've never heard of a fly tying machine.
  22. i reckon...its because his lake is stuffed with foreign carp..may i ask.. All carp are foreign, you plum. One lake I fish is 'filled' with 7, fifty year old Leaneys, 2 of which remain uncaught, in 12 acres. You would love it Jim but it's harder than C.P.. (by people who have fished both) I had 2 last year, top rod... My other water is a Cheshire Mere, it is thirty acres and has between 8 and 10 real fish. One fish a year is a true result. It's harder than Fen, I've fished both. Three fish in three years not three in a day, and no boats!! watch him reprint this..as it always does..when its faced with the truth By quoteing you directly, you aren't able to wriggle out of anything you say, you are faced with the truth. I will stop doing it if it makes you feel uncomfortable. ..they only dream about catching. Check out the Biggest Carp thread. You didn't read Gibbo's piece then did you. remember aswell..they aint man enough to sign there name..just faceless idiots..with nothing else better to do in life. Thanks for your support Alan but I can stand the insults. It's only a bit of fun and some equilibrium to the equation, from a bloke who has been on the recieving end........ Thats Lifebouy! It's just not a challenge anymore End of....
