Brown or rainbow

Mate took this fish today on roach deadbait while piking. At first thought may have been a brownie but then had a closer look at the tail. Would they normally be so dark at this time of year?

Rainbows do go very dark around this time of year - just for reference, what are the features on this fish that say it's a brownie?

Depending on how you cook them not much in it for taste between a brownie and a rainbow...personally I like them about 1lb in weight unless I'm planning to smoke them...hehehe

 

Seriously I agree its a Brownie and a good fish by the look of it, be it was some fun catching.
