I saw him once at a Carp Show in the Midlands, at the time he had the most gorgeous girlfriend, I think her name was similar to his, Julie or Jules :g:

She was much more interesting than he was. :)

is it a local thing ie in and around Selby??

It's sponsored by carp-talk as far as I can tell, so no doubt contains most of their writers past and present and a maybe a few others. Actually just googled it and you can see who's in it if you do likewise. Mostly old names who I'd agree with to be honest, but not all, and few obvious omissions...

I would advise any aspiring carp angler to get a copy of his first (?) book. It really has got all the answers in it.
