Putting Line on your reel

Can some one tell me how to spool a new batch of line onto a reel so it dosen't come of in spiral and coils, also what brand of line is best for general pleasure fishing.

I have the same problem with line. someone told me to put the spool in water when winding it on, but it made no difference. Can anyone out there help with this problem

I tend to find that if you stand spool of line on the floor directly under the last eye of your rod do not let the spool roll all over the floor and dont keep the tension on the line to tight as it goes on the reel . but as to which line is best i think that is down to personal prefrence and to what situation you are fishing and for what species .

I have read somewhere that when putting line on a multiplier you should face the spool to the reel and ensure that the line comes off the spool in the same direction as the it is being wound onto the reel – or something like that :confused: , can anybody confirm please?

To prevent it twisting as it goes on, get a friend to hold the spool of new line with a pencil through the middle, putting slight tension on as you go

Spinning - lay on the floor with the spool label down.

 

baitcast - have someone hold the spool of line on a pencil, line should come off the spool over the top.

 

Spincast - same as spinning (usually if the reel picksup counter clockwise).
