Piking Stour around Sudbury

Try the L Melford water above liston... larger perch have been on the move at Rodbridge so try the PIke . Upstream of Brundon (SDAC) also well worth a look.

The back of Ladys Island has always done well, only drawback is no day ticket for this bit. If you can cast well then you can reach a great deal of this stretch from either Friars Meadow (free fishing for Sudbury residents) or Pecks Meadow (day ticket £4 IIRC )

The floodgates pool on Mill Meadows used to be my favourite - extremely deep water and beware of the debris on the bottom, at least one shopping trolley has gone in here not to mention several trees worth of big branches. Bloody kids.

Thanks Wunnus and Rykko, for the responses.

I had a quick look around yesterday. I know Friars meadow but unfortunately I live 10 miles from Sudbury so don't qualify for the free fishing. I found Rodbridge ok, but struggled to find access around Liston (also where can you get Long Melford tickets?). There was a very pretty mill pond area out this way but it all looked as though it was private no fishing??

Do you know how much a Sudbury/Melford ticket is?

It looked like it would be great to put a boat on the upper stretches to explore but I don't suppose this is possible.

Thanks for your help!

IIRC day tickets for Sudbury Club waters are £4 per day. Not sure about LMAA but you could phone Norman Mealham (club sec?) at Stour Valley Tackle & Trophies in Sudbury and he'll put you straight. Number is 01787 377139.
