In 3.5billion years of evolution on Earth, and millions of species arising, evolving and becoming extinct, Homo sapiens is pretty unique in the way we think and communicate.

A very recent evolution, Homo has changed the planet's ecology in an incredibly short time like no other before, disastrously so.

It's unlikely that Homo will evolve significantly more, and will likely be a short-lived species.

Arrogantly seeing ourselves as the pinnacle of evolution, geologic timescales will most likely show us as a weird evolutionary aberration, an unsuccessful adaptation unable to survive it's own impact on the ecology which supports all life-forms.

. Evolutionary history on Earth shows that our 'intelligence' adaptation is amazingly rare, and probably unique.

. There's a good chance that it only leads to the rapid extinction of such a species (taking many others with it).

It's so quiet out there, maybe that's why. :(

See your still campaigning for the we're all doomed brigade then Leon, how about a sandwich board through gill high street and meet a few reprobates face to face, and to try and change their day to day views.

latest count, hot off the press, fish count for the e u 2012 rsa, cod and codling in the north sea, loads. pass it on. :) less a few fillets that ended up in me freezer, yesterday.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Your straying onto my "home turf" a wee bit here Leon. How do you work that one out, pray tell.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

Ultimately we are doomed. If we don't destroy ourselves by making the planet uninhabitable for ourselves, or by our own fecundity, then eventually one of the many caldera on the planet will erupt on a massive scale, or the planet will be impacted by a massive NEO. Whatever the cause of our eventual extinction, I doubt that or species will have the longevity of the Great White Shark or the Estuarine Crocodile.

Nature, the universe does not need us and does not love us.

No not at all. Do you really think that the human species will last for as long as say T.Rex? Is it your opinion that we will as a species last for 60 million years or more? I have already posted in another topic that if the asteroid that we were talking about on Monday did strike the earth it would have burned up in the atmosphere. If a 400m asteroid impacts the earth it will really spoil your day, no matter where you are, and no matter where it impacts. It's not a question of if, it's a question of when. In a similar vein, one day Yellowstone will have a major eruption. If that happens you won't be worrying about your pension.

The probability of either of those events occurring real soon now are remote, but remote is is not zero, one day a big NEO will impact, one day Yellowstone will erupt.

Just because you don't like the idea, or are unable to grasp it, doesn't mean it ain't so Barry.

Every species that has existed or that is still extant today has Telomeres. That hasn't stopped evolution in the past and won't stop it now. Species evolve when they are under pressure from their environment to do so.
