Hemp and Elder Berry

Recommended Posts

This is a deadly combination which i have used for many years especially in the Thames for roach. When you are fishing hemp on the hook and the bites are coming thick and fast, put an elderberry on the hook and normally the size of the roach or dace doubles as if by magic. the fish go crazy for the purple berry. the only prob you can only pick em around autumn time, so make a note and try this way of fishing. Anybody out there can you confirm im not mad and am right?

good god zappa you must be nearly as old as me,but im glad you confirm this bait is the NUTS. do you know if you can get it in cans or jars???

I am not sure about cans or jars, but most home brew shops sell dried elderberries!

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

I have given them a go on some local ponds where the elderberry trees hang over the lake.

Never caught a thing.

I have seen others catch when using them but think they work better in the rivers where fish has less time to inspect them.
