UK Cod collapse due to overfishing and political failure

Mike Parks, from the Scottish White Fish Producers Association, based in north-west Scotland, said a "state of anarchy" still exists in parts of the fishing industry where everyone was out for what they could get from a diminishing stock.

Pretty much powerful argument that something is very wrong, yet other sites are offering up criticism that this guy don't know what he is talking about and M Park from within the commercial sector saying that every one is out for what they can get. Also in the news today, the Italian government has had a final warning from the e u about illegal fishing practices that have been on going for more than ten years, yup, something is very wrong and the fault starts right at the top. Not fit for purpose i would have to say. A tax payers money wasting disgrace. Massive amounts of rules and regulation that are not fit for purpose.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Well Barry according to the comments at the bottom of the link we are both in denial of the facts , or perhaps like Mike Park says we are just out to get what we can from a diminishing stock.

I fish to live and live to fish.

There has been a marked improvement of cod between 2-6lb this year up our part of the world it looks like last few very cold winters have given a good hatch with the cod larvie and less commercial effort but lets not kid ourselves one of the local trawlers who normally works out of peterhead has been doing survey work for cefas off whitby all fish caught during the survey its non quotoable in 3 landings she landed roughly 1500 boxes of fish thats a lot of fish all non quotoable she is a very good fishing boat and does extremly well when working of norway its a big payday for the crew as the boat normally has to buy quota and it is then taken of the top line at the end of the week but with cefas paying for hire of the boat and full fish landing a very big payday for the boat and crew.
