Anyone in the tackle trade?

Is there anyone here in the tackle trade? That would be willing to go over a few things with me.

Im interested in pricing, prices paid for tackle and profit on certain items.

If you know about these things and I presume you wont want to disscus them on a forum, either mail me or send a PM.

I work for a freight forwarder who import for leeda.

I have a trade catalogue next to me and compare the retail price, trade price and how much the goods cost after duty/vat, freight, haulage and other charges.

Belive me it is shocking.

 

They sold me three parabolix rods all with a retail price of 300.00 each.

 

I got all three for 30.00 each

INCLUDING DELIVERY DIRECT TO MY HOUSE!!!!!!

Saved myself 810 pounds (not that I would buy gear that expensive).

It was a one off for a favour I done them.

 

Looking at the retail / trade prices

most items have a mark up of 90 - 100%

depending on the amount bought by the customer.

 

Some have an even bigger mark up (upto 150%)

 

This is how the big internet shops can offer so much discount - bulk buying = reduction in trade price.

 

It is up to the tackle shop how much they sell gear for.

 

You also have to remember there are minimum orders

in place by tackle companies (the vast majority in pounds eg minimum order has to be 200.00 worth of gear) and most tackle shops also have credit accounts with the tackle companies and have to pay interest on these accounts.
