I have an Acer monitor which was working perfectly.

Suddenly all text or images on the monitor have a streak of white for a cm or two off to the right of the image.

I also have a problem with washed out text down the right side of the screen.

Anyone seen this before?

Only after downloading far too much porn... the monitor becomes blind you see. Has your keyboard started getting hairy? ;)

Seriously, no idea, although I'm sure someone will come in with something constructive soon

Could be a number of things! Curiously enough I've just resolved similar on mine! Looks like motion blur on things right? Usually only shows on white, but if you look close you will see it on text slightly too.

First do the basics, check all cables are in properly, especially the VGA one.

Open the menu of the monitor. If it displays properly your monitor is fine. If it doesn't your monitor is buggerd. If it does it's your input! Either the connections, lead or video card.

Swap out your VGA cable or dvi cable, if your video card has both then swap from one to the other.

Test at a lower resolution. If the problems resolves itself then chances are your running to high a res or to high a refresh rate.

Degaus the monitor..you'll find it in the menu options on the monitor somewhere.

Uninstall video drivers. Reboot and download and install new ones.

any one of those can cause the issue. In my case it seems to be a dodgy VGA port. Swapped to dvi and its fine now.

Thanks for the advice.

The problem was a loose VGA connection.

All OK now
