Well i went out yesterday and purchased my final addition to the tank, (for now anyway)a fantastic speciman Scat. he is aprox. 10cm long by 8cm high.

although mainly a brackish fish i have been told that by adding a teaspoon of salt to tank it should be fine with my oscar, cichlids and croaking catfish. and this morning he and the rest of the tank mates are thriving and feeding well always a good sign!

Looks a fantastic fish. I thought the Oscar would have given it a hard time. I used to keep Oscars a few years ago and they used to give any other fish I tried to keep with them a right bashing.

 

Now I keep a few tanks of African Rift Valley Cichlids. Nice fish but they dont have the same charecter as an Oscar !

your dead right MrW. i just caught him at it this evening! my oscars fins WERE in top condition untill today the lil BA**ard haha

 

but still the oscar has a whole lot of growing to do atm he is only about 1/3 the size of the scat

BAD NEWS:

 

the scat is dead, i dont know if it was due to the fact that it is a brackish fish or maybe the oscar got fed up of the fin nipping? but got up this morning to find him dead with the croaking catfish feeding on him. ( on an other note: by heck that cat fish got big i rearly see him due to being nocternal he was originaly about the size of a small corydora now he is about the same as very large 3spot gourami)

 

so thats another fish unsuitable for the tank! ohh well will trysomethin new.
