Whilst being off ill I have been catching up on my reading. In the letters section of Anglers Mail (October 9 2004)I read the following letter from Mr Peter Collins.who Im sure you must have by now all heard of-

Predator killers latest

THANKS for the reel (Star Letter,August 28).Most unexpected.I did wonder wether or not I should re-offer it to you...as a prize for the angler who kills the biggest Zander in the current season.

Peter Collins,Folksworth,Cambs

What can I say?

NB No critisism of the Mail intended here as I feel they have handled/covered this issue well.

Thats right Leon, the thought of what the rest of his letter may of contained makes the mind bogle!More detailed instructions on how to kill pike maybe? then again there are enough of those printed in most of the mags under the guise of instructional and technical articles.......

It is a shame that he wasn't prosecuted. If he had been, it would have been illegal for the Mail to have awarded him a prize for his letter, as he would have been seen to have profited from his criminal act.

Unfortunately, it appears PC is basking in his own notoriety. Maybe it would be a good idea to avoid the subject in future, hence starving him of the oxygen of publicity?
