Just wanted to say hello from Cook and condolences on the recent passing of the "Mum"

Enjoy reading the fanatisism on carp baits-fairly easy to catch them here, guess you don't know how good you got it till its gone.

Don't think I'll have much to add that you don't already know, but a few tidbits here and there.

Question;is Spamreally popular in GB?Recently a 113#(thats a bunch of kilos)blue cat was caught with a chunk of spam(insert Monty Python song here)

Welcome aboard Cook. Yes I've used Spam. However I find othe brands of tinned meat tougher and easier to keep on the hook (my fav. brand is Plumrose). Meat (the tinned variety) is a very (most??) popular bait for barbel in the UK....

Enjoy your time on AN.....

Welcome cook.

Bloke & Chap - surely you've watched a WWII movie where they said stuff like that.

Tinned - canned.

Coarse - any freshwater fish except trout & salmon

Barbel - a fish we ain't got. I don't think. Got whiskers sorta like a cat and habits a little like a carp.

Dave Mc - ROF - you would not believe how far it is from Missouri to the nearest salt water. :D

Not sure what city for him but from St. Louis, MO, it is around 650 to the Gulf of Mexico, 1000 to the Atlantic, and 2000 to the Pacific.

1250 miles to father-in-laws house in Tampa,Florida.Try to make it for holiday every january.Have caught sharks, sea trout, snapper, grouper, grunts, redfish, some I didn't even know what the ell they were :D

Did some reading on the scene in your area, good lord, they make it tough on you.Seems like the hardest part is access, lack of uneducated fish, and limited public land.I'm not a world traveler but have seen some of the states,Canada,S.A.,the islands and am very happy for what I got here in by back yard!!
