Oh dear. They may aswell fit a magnet to the carp and then a magnet to the end of the rod and catch them that way. Always worked when I used to fish as a toddler

Yeh, a bit off topic, but it may amuse some

Dick Walker once did an April 1st article for Angling Times about mixing magnetised iron filings with your groundbait when chub fishing and then carrying a compass on subsequent trips to aid in fish location.

Trouble was..... as he said he found the next week......

.... all the chub were lined up with their noses pressed against the North bank, and all going rusty
