Cannot access the AN website

Please can somebody help me with this, Im at my wits end.

The problem started just after the Anglersnet forum was upgraded, my home PC cannot now load the website home page but its fine with any other websites that I visit, Ive tried pinging the AN IP address but it just times out. I can, however, access AN from work so Im sure the problem is my end and nothing to do with AN itself. My system is Windows XP SP3 based with all updates installed and I use Zonealarm free firewall and AGV Anti Virus. My internet connection is wired via a Netgear router.

This is what Ive tried so far;

Connected work laptop to home router, this solves the problem so that should rule out any router issues.

Rebooted router.

Cleaned up all cookies, history and the registry using CC cleaner.

Three different browsers IE8, Googlechrome and Firefox, none of them find AN

Temporarily switched off the firewall and anti virus programmes, still no joy.

Im not sure where to go from here, something in my PC is blocking the AN IP address but I cant think of anywhere else to look. I back up everything that I need to keep so I could rebuild the machine with a fresh install but Id rather not, I bet its something simple.

It's never a 'six', let's put it back

I would flush dns and check your hosts file for any entries. I can't give instructions from here (in a muddy field), but hope someone else will see this reply.

The IP hasn't changed, but it would be interesting to see what IP your machine is trying to reach. It should be 74.52.111.123

Thanks Elton, seems like I'm trying to reach the correct IP address but I'll do the DNS flush and check the hosts file anyway. Am I correct in thinking that the AN IP should not appear in my hosts file?

it shouldnt be in your hosts file.

if its:

74.52.111.123 localhost

delete the line. i cant see how it would end up there though.

other than that try accessing the website through a proxy it could be Eltons firewall got paranoid like it did with me a while ago :)

try this proxy: http://anonymouse.org/cgi-bin/anon-www.cgi/http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/

That's a good point. Any idea what your IP at home is, Rusty?

That'll also explain why Barry sorted the same problem with a router reboot.
