I had a look at it Steve and it doesn't appear necrotic and there's no sign of fungal growth. The wound has a healthy blood supply and the mucus membrane seems to be intact. I think it's just taken a knock.

It's also feeding away quite happily and rrootingaround with the other roach and rudd. It's not showing signs of ddeteriorationor hanging around in a corner feeling sorry for itself. The other fish aren't picking on the sore either, so it's getting a chance to heal unhindered I think. I don't really forsee a problem.

That's what we want to see - if they progress to an open ulcer and the fish starts showing signs of osmotic stress, the omens aren't good.

The lump is now nothing more than a slightly dark pimple :D

The red nose hasn't got any better, it has changed coloration constantly(from light to dark to light etc), now it looks like he has a bloody nose.

Happened again, same fish, same place, exactly the same in every single way. They did freak out last night I think it might be the brace (glass ledges inside) it hit ?

Andy84,

You are trying to raise an intellectually challenged fish ("retard" is no longer politically correct).
