Perch fishing

Nice fish there Cris... About, snow... We got almost half a meter and -12 celsius right now. Its pretty cold... Winter hit us hard at first stroke this year. Steve, I would just like to tell You that we never use the Zara Spook, the Super Spook is much moore efficient. At first I thought it was to big but I had to change my mind when my comrades started to catch big fish, and many of them too...

Looking forward for ice-fishing for pearch on the next weekend. We've got ice in North-European Russia already and I'd like to test a new lot of metal minnows I've just made of brass.

Some are left polished yellow, some are coated with silver.

Jan, the idea to coat the metal lures with epoxyglue seems to be veru interesting. What colors do you use? Other tips from this topic surely seem to be worth trying! Thanks to all!

I'd all but given up on Perch for the year. It's been a bit nippy round of late. It looks like I might just have to get the lures back out.

Andy - I don't think it gets too cold for perch and for lures.

They are probably the most popular species for catching thru a hole in the ice with a jig for a lure in the parts of the US where we get significant ice.

Note that I did say the most popular but they certainly aren't the only fish that enjoy cool water.

Nice to see you up and about again Andy, set the alarm clock for October and slept through it? :)

It has to be said of perch that temperature wise they are one of the most enduring species I've come across. during the last two hot summers when pike switched off completely on my local river, it was really only healthy interest from early and late perch that kept me fishing. Now its getting colder they are still around and still eager to feed.
