After a certain age, if you don't wake up aching in every joint, you are probably dead.

I first started pole fishing with a 6 meter shakesphere telescopic glass whip.

I put a size six elastic through the top two.

Caught plenty of fish using it including 5 to 6lb Tench.

Once I got the hang of it I bought my first proper pole which I still use, a Garbolino Rio 11m. I do have a 1.5m extension which has seen little use as most I catch more fish along the marginal shelf than anywhere else.

The whip has now been changed back into a whip with no elastic but a flick tip set up.

Different floats for different folks!

Rudd I've got a Garbolino Rio to, though I just mess around with it for fun on the carp puddles.

I would not call myself an expert in thse matters at all, but it is an enjoyable change to fishing with running lines.

I used to work for WMAC and we used to sell hell of a lot of these poles. If you are completely new to pole fishing they are ideal. They are quite heavy and not suitable if after decent carp. If pole fished before then perhaps spending a bit more money would be better.
