Steamy Windows / Dehumidifier Advice Please

Until the year before last we had wooden framed double glazed units too, many of the seals were failing so we had 11 Rehau UPVC double glazed windows installed for £2300!! I could hardly buy them for that!!

While the main object of the replacement was ascetic (we couldnt see out!) the affect on the house has been noticable. Its warmer and less draftly and we dont get condensation on the windows any more (altough we didnt get quite as much as you report. The gap on UPVC is much bigger than wood units and more efficient as a consequence, maybe thats why, the windows havent got trickle vents BTW.

I have also turned down the heating but leave it on longer, we actually use less gas but are as warm.

If you have a dry house, ie not damp, then the moisture must be coming from somewhere esp as you have central heating, I assume you do not use one of those portable gas heaters?

Consider an extractor in the kitchen and bathroom, they are cheap, only need to be on when the room is in use and are easy to fit.

Hope that helps.
