bass fishing in the uk ?

Is it possible to catch largemouth bass anywhere in the uk?

I've seen that they are on the EA's list of imported species and are present somewhere in UK waters. I've also seen a lot of very fishy places that largemouth would love on the coarse lakes and canals I've been to. I'd love to know the answer as well seeing as that's where I cut my teeth angling and what I've done the most of over the past 20 years.

I may be wrong but I seem to remember Matt Hayes fly-fishing somewhere in a welsh lake for smallmouth Bass.!! Maybe I dreamed it!

There are some interesting past threads on this but it's impossible to find them because almost any search just brings up pages and pages of hits from the auction pages.

From memory, there were a few interesting stories about SMB's and LMBs having been stocked on in a few southern lakes and waters linked to old US air bases but absolutely no evidence of any waters where these fish currently survive in the UK.

There are plenty of bass to be caught in southern France and Spain though so all is not lost.
