Barbel

i am after some local advice i live in the north east lincolnshire area i want to go barbel fishing in about two months time and i am doing some research to find a local barbel venue. can anyone help as never caught a barbel where should i go?

any help would be appreciated. :)

Sorry don't know your area at all. How far from the river trent are you? also on the barbel society web site they mention the river witham. try this link for info on fishing in your area.

You might struggle to find somwhere local for barbel fishing.

Never knew the Witham contained barbel but it might be worth a try.

Or like peter suggested the Trent is probably the closest real chance

I agree,the Trent is probably your best bet,failing this,further south you could try the Nene,they were stocked a few years ago by the EA,not many are being caught though,i"ve only had the one,which is why i travel 40+ miles to the Ouse!!!!!!.

Yes,the Trent is your best bet. There are plenty of DT stretches all of which produce barbel to double figures. If you want specific locations then drop me a mail. There are barbel in the Witham but life is just too short! Especially with a few extra miles you can enjoy the fantastic fishing on the Trent.

You could also drive a little further north and fish the Swale.
