Sweetcorn bargain

Tesco's finest sweetcorn is currently half price and selling at 34p - just two pence more than the Value tins. This is the stuff in the tetrapacks so it's lighter to carry and no problems on waters with tin bans.

Tesco's, Sainsburys and marks n spencers own value tins iv been harping on about for ages, much better than jolly green. i honestly dont know why i used to hear people go mad for jolly green thinking there was something special about it, its pish.

Yep, the value stuff is 32p for a tin bigger than the tetrapacks but my local association don't allow tins at the waterside (althoufgh the ban is almost universally ignored) and these are nice and light to carry as a standby.

 

Truth be told, I rarely fish corn but I shall be doing a bit of bait fishing this year so picked up four packs as alternative to meat because I will be targetting a spot that holds big barbel as well as (perversly because it's very fast water) a good head of big bream.

Actually, I know why the bream are there. The peg is immediaely below a long rapid with lots of food and the depth suddenly drops off. It's white water on the surface but calm and slow once you're a metre or so down.

I've found Lidl corn seems to be pretty good. Agree about Green Giant, seems to be all corn skins and small bits.

I also use Lidl sweet corn, usually whole grains and quite firm. Their bacon grill and luncheon meat are also excellent, both are firm and they stay on the hook well.

lidl corn is good but not as good as the tesco corn
