  1. Hey phone, is much fishing done from the shore or will I need to make friends with somebody with a boat?
  2. Thank you phone, doesn't seem like I will be catching many crucians or tench! He he
  3. Well, if it all goes ahead seems like a lot to learn. Maybe ill get a boat!
  4. Seems to be some interesting stuff on this site: http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/en/Business/LetsFish/index.html
  5. Thanks for that Ken,I was assuming that coarse fishing wouldn't be on the table, but remembered seeing a John Wilson programme once where he was somewhere in Canada catching some impressive Grayling. Seems like I will be needing to learn some new angling skills!
  6. Hello all, there is the chance that in 2015 I may be moving to Canada for career reasons. Any of you well travelled anglers fished in the South West Ontario area and can let me know what kind of fishing to expect?
  7. Sharks? http://www.eadt.co.uk/news/video_shark_spotted_swimming_in_river_stour_1_2363852
  8. Is this the kirton that's also a dayticket place?
  9. Recently got a couple of Wychwood Signature alarms off eBay for around a tenner each. So far they seem a very reliable, well made alarm. They really are tiny though, which I like, but may not be to everyones liking.
  10. Personally, I don't think there is a water anywhere, from inland sea to garden pond, that I couldn't blank on! At least it spurs me on to try and learn about flora and forna, gives me something to do while watching a motionless float!
  11. Interesting thanks, somebody I work with is selling one of the specialist MT rods for £30 so wondered if it was worth a punt.
  12. Anybody familiar with or own any rods by Grauvell?
  13. Sounds good, what's the catch!?
  14. I'm a 31 year old angler who sometimes sports a beard. Too hot at the minute though!
  15. Why don't more line manufacturers state on their product if it sinks or floats!? Yes, I know its the most abrasion resistant, supple as silk line ever to grace God's green earth but does it sink or swim!? Anyhow, I know that Maxima and Pro Gold sink, but are there any other decent quality sinking lines that you've come across in the 2 - 6lbs range? I had Maxima on my reels for a while but wondered if there's any better im missing out on.
  16. Looks like a carp/catfish hybrid if you can imagine such an abomination!
  17. Who knows. What happens in a bivvy stays in a bivvy if you ask me.
  18. Maybe it's three feet wide?!
  19. Maybe it was really wide and we can't see?! http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/jul/29/vladimir-putin-angling-photos
  20. I've found Lidl corn seems to be pretty good. Agree about Green Giant, seems to be all corn skins and small bits.
  21. Thanks Kirisute, I'm planning in heading down there this weekend so I'll let you know how I get on
  22. Thanks phone, some interesting some thoughts. I have no idea about their chromosomes I'm afraid, but if I land one I shall be sure to ask.
  23. After landing a grass carp on my local club lake by accident I've become interested in targeting them specifically. I've located an area where a few seem to be loitering and have been trying to catch them off the top without much success. They are very close to a bank at the end of the lake, which has no pegs along it, but as soon as somebody walks along that bank they drift off. So I've been thinking about trying to tempt them away from their hideout into more open water but would appreciate some advice from those more experienced than me as to what in the way of loosefeed might persuade them. I've read corn can work, as well as cherry tomato as hookbait, but has anyone else attempted this?
  24. There were 37 bids! Maybe they know something we don't know...
