Yup definitely a bullhead - here's a big (for a Bullhead! ) one that I caught last year - deliberately targetted for the IAC species race as well!

There are loads of them around but they don't often take anglers bait. If you've ever looked for crayfish under stones in shallows you've probably disturbed loads of bullheads they love to live under stones.

Bullheads have got mouths which appear to be like the Tradis - bigger on the inside than out!!!!! I once caught one on a big lob and a size 8 (was barbel fishing at the time) and despite its size I could hardly see the hook which it had somehow managed to swallow right down!

We used to catch Bullheads regularly from the River Cart in Glasgow almost 20 years ago. They disappeared for a few years but they've come back again. I don't know why either because the river's in a worse state than it ever was.
