Dead pc

On returning from the footy I plugged in the PC and went on line and after a few seconds the thing went dead on me.........no warnings.......nothing on the monitor.

The plug is about 6 feet away from the PC.

I fiddled and struggled and finally took it to PC World to be checked and repaired, they said "be about 3 days".........48 hours later a phone call to say "all fixed, a card had come partly adrift and I would have to pay £14.99!!!!!!!!!

Good stuff PC World

What I would like to know is how a card can come loose when there was no one in the house for almost three weeks and the PC was unplugged?

"When through the woods and forest glades I wanderAnd hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees; When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur,And hear the brook, and feel the breeze;and see the waves crash on the shore,Then sings my soul..................

Heat created when the machine was on could have kept the connection on the card and when the machine was unplugged for the three weeks it would have cooled.

Just a bad connection that's all, it would have gone eventually.

cards are well known for creeping hence locks on memory and AGP graphics ones ,not a lot of money and gives you the incentive to check yourself next time before shelling out money ,its a good thing to do it once a month and clean the fans as well ,dont use a hoover unless it has a blowing function ,a clean dry paintbrush is ok for cleaning fans and circuit board ,so long as the pc is plugged IN and switched OFF at the wall and one hand rests on the bare metal of the case then no static will zap anything .

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong
