removing norton utilities 2001

I have just upgraded from Win98se to WinXP home edition. Before loading XP I went onto the Win help site and they told me which programmes were not compatible, Norton Utilities 2001 being one of them. I deleted the programmes then loaded XP. When I rebooted the computer Norton was there and I cannot get rid of it. Iuse add/remove and it says pathway not found uninstall will abort. Any ideas gratefully accepted.

The reinstall and new remove try is a good idea if it will install.

After that, since Norton always leaves pieces of itself around after an uninstall, get Symclean.exe from Symantec and let it finish the removal. The download link is a little ways down the instruction page at that link.
