Computer now working!!!!

I've finally solved the problem!!

It seems that my new copy of XP Home inc SP2 is a load of cr@p!!

XP crashed and made my main boot partition invisible.

Luckily I had a spare HD which I installed and then added the other drive as a slave. The slave only showed 2 partitions instead of 3.

I ran in safe mode and checked everything out and when I started in normal mode the 3rd partition appeared.

However when reinstalled as the master drive it became apparent that XP had corrupted and wouldn't start.

Eventually I managed to reformat the boot partition and reinstalled XP.

Of course I needed to re-activate it, so after 5mins hanging on the phone, I eventually got it sorted. The young lady suggested I try technical support, which if this happens again I suppose I will have to.

I wish I had stayed with 2000pro.

Thanks everyone for your help,

Colin
