Cold smoker - I shall br building one of these

I have been thinking about a smoker for a while but cold smokers are quite expensive and are bulky to store when not in use. This looks like a brilliant and cheap alternative.

It's excellent, although I think it would work better for hot smoking, given cold smoking times of 12-24 hours for some foods. You could do some lightly cold smoked foods, though, or pre-smoke prior to hot smoking.

Built one of those a couple of months back. Also purchased a large plastic "box" with lid and put a S/S grid from an old fridge in it. Works a treat :) using a very small portable air pump (as used by pikers)

 

Smoked Brie..........yum yum

 

Box is now nicely coated with smoke residue.
