Lakes Meet Up

My local angling society gives lessons in Pike handling, so I expect that many others do as well.

 

If you chaps are going up to the lakes, might be worth getting one of those freshwater paddlers to give you a lesson in handling them.

no worries, if any pike are caught, they will be handled in the correct way.

As above no worries, been catching them from boat, canadian canoe, and bank for 15yrs.

Well I'm just bloody relieved that I never caught one the last two times I went after reading this I honestly wouldn't have a clue how to handle a Pike but just imagined it would be sort of Ling like ? I wouldn't keep it even if I was allowed but just like the sporting aspect of it.

Any more info before we get there would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Good links Olly. I guess if you are to unhook them out of the water you will need unhooking mats?

Yes will take a mat but will keep them in water if possible,probably be quicker and safer to use crops

just a quick one gents, if anybody is comming just to have a play on a yak, then it might be worth taking into account that you may get wet, throw some spare clobber in a bag to avoid a wet drive home.

 

apart from that, be prepared for the addiction.
