I tend to use small strips of squid, on a two hook flapper, with small size 1 or 1/0 hooks.

Its rough ground they like generally I believe, so expect to lose some gear. I am in Jersey, and had one yesterday, so they are still around, even in Guernsey!

I have caught one on a light float rig and pound for pound they scrap better than bass. If you know the depth (fishfinder is on my list) set a sliding rig so that it is about 3ft above the floor. Size 1 with rag (tail off) tipped with squid. Recommend Vanish 4ft hook length below lead.

Apart from having a better fight you wont get plaqued by crabs or lose any gear.

All this knowledge and still no Yak...come on birthday :( ...still not long now! :)

Fished since 2003, the rest of my life I just wasted.
