Hi Terry,

Sorry to hear about Bill - I hope he gets better as well. I know he was looking forward to it.

I'll give you a ring later.

I'm new to the area, so have decided to meet a couple of guys from the Hobie Distributors at 08.30 on the Dartmouth side of the (Dartmouth) ferry.

They will be coming along for the day and have suggested a launch site in Salcombe on the main slipway.

I'll send you a PM with my number on if you want to come with us.

I think the bait was...Rag / Crab/Sandeel / Fish Bait. Not sure what we are going for, but the Guys from Hobie said they knew a great spot for Pollock.

I guess we should meet the others and decide from there....

It would be good if a few of the lads could send me their mobile numbers on a PM so we can arrange a time and place to meet on the water.

Speak to you later,

Dave

Hi,

Is it a lot easier / shorter to go via Mill Bay (East Portlemouth)?

The lads from Hobie were telling me to head for main slipway in Salcombe, but I have never been there so have no idea of distance.

Hi Guys

Can anyone let me know what the parking situation is like in North / South sands or the slipway area .I'm traveling down from Exeter and looking at the map, it looks like it may be quicker to launch from that side rather than Portlemouth.

Hi Laurence

I would say it depends on which way you are approaching Salcombe, if you're coming in from the Paignton- Dartmouth (A379) way then yes East Portlemouth would be easier. However, if you travel down the A38 to Buckfasliegh (A384) through to Totnes then onto Kingsbridge (A381) and Salcombe then this side would be easier.

Salcombe slip is at the top end of the town and I would guess about a mile upriver from the Mill Bay area, whereas if you drive down to South/North Sands you paddle out into Mill Bay. North Sands has a car park at the back of the beach and South Sands has roadside parking right on the beach.

If you choose Portlemouth then drive right down to the National Trust car park, a short paddle down the estuary brings you to the Mill Bay area.

The slipway has parking right on it also.

Nick
