Nice in depth writeup Moonyaker .I stayed with John last year and your report brought back some good memories . I didn't take the yak on that oocation , but all being well I hope to get over there very soon this time with the yak. I quite fancied the stretch of coast from Ballinskelligs to St Finans bay weather permitting . I have fished there from the rocks on occasions and landed some good Pollack however I have also lost some monsters in that area so I know they are down there somewhere . Did you have chance to fish that area on your stay ? Chuggs

Grant My choice would be a Prowler 13, much easier to paddle by far . I carry the 13 on my shoulder,not a great deal between the weights of the prowler and caper also this setup for the roof , it's all metal! well nearly all of it . Coincidentally the roof bars are for an Audi . Slids on a treat ,on and off fully loaded no probs .Only because I can't be arsed to take everything off. hope this helps. Chuggs.

Hi Vidcon, Don't be afraid to drill a hole that size, just make sure that you sure of the final position first. I fitted a Garmin 140 ,an easy and quick way to seal the hole is to buy a rubber door stop, drill a hole just smaller the size of the cable and a saw cut half way through to offer the cable in , and push into the hole in the kayak . Like a cork in a bottle, tidy and no mess 100% waterproof and easy to remove, also cheep. Chuggs

Hi Greywulff It sounds like one or two of the guys may be interested in late September - October, however, I am also intending to try and make a trip over before then if possible. Maybe a long weekend , depending on accommodation etc . Vidcon has said he is keen to do some yaking . What say you?

Hi Just to confuse things even more , I used a blob of semi clear chimney flue sealer [ silicone } to fix the receiver. Works just fine, no probs what so ever. Chuggs

Hi Bill, Good question ,that's assuming we have a summer to get to the end of. , anytime from September to November Bass fishing can be at it's best. Just need to pick a date . As yakerbass says , some good doubles to be had , Bass and Pollack. It's no good keeping that new fly rod all rapped up Bill, you have got to use it sometime I seem to recall you saying that you were off to the sun at the end of the year?

Hi guys Do any of you fancy a Bass /Pollack trip south west Ireland at the end of the summer.?{ Clonakilty area} This stretch of coast has huge Yak potential, with deep water marks within 20 yards of the cliffs. Clonakilty is only 30 mins from the ferry port in Cork,add to that the Guinness factor and it could make for a good trip . Having fished there several times from the shore with a good success rate ,I feel it's time to get afloat ,wet a paddle and get to those inaccessible fish holding marks. If anyone is interested let me know. chuggs.

Hi Richi Silly hats are compulsory in Devon . It may take a few days to learn the language , us is a vunny old bunch yer thee nos . My suggestion would be Dartmouth to Salcombe area for the sheer beauty of the area. Lots of sheltered fishing if you pick a dogy week , loads of potential, and there are congers there for sure. Avoid Torbay in the Summer . Not sure about hotels etc. Musket or Yaskalos may better placed to advise. Late Summer I would suggest Sounds like a get together may be on the cards?? Chuggs

Hi Jon , Terry, Just a suggestion I think Salcombe or Dartmouth for sheltered fishing , Hallsands in between the two if the weathers going to be kind for us. Salcombe or Dartmouth , no Bass to be weighed in . What do ya recon? Should have my 140 fitted by then. Chuggs

EXCELLENT write up guys and great pics . A top test for the kayaks and the paddlers by the look of it . It looked like a good few hours of fun was had. You can never have to many balls I say! Does the water feel any warmer yet? the way the weather is at the moment I half expected to see iceberg in the background of one of the pics. Chuggs

Hi Chris Start Point , Slapton , Hallsands has very good fishing close in , ideal for the less experienced paddlers .More than happy to fish closer in with novice kayakers. Did you say you were in the Exeter area?

Hi Speciman I am not an expert by any means but have fished the skerries several times. The strength of the tide makes all the difference on the banks and the use of braid of course. I have only ever drift fished with light gear from a boat but I understand that anchoring can be more affective for ray. The last time I fished the Skerries we spent 6 hours using crab and worm baits hard on the bottom with out a single bite. Decided to just free line a sandeel and picked up eight place in half an hour. Only had ten eels with us bugger!!! Yaskalos or Musket would be able to give a lot more of an in-site than me I'm sure, as I say I'm no expert on tides / conditions etc . Chuggs

Hi Richi Just buy normal size there is plenty of stretch, don't go to big it defeats the object of the neoprene. I wear em for work, pubs, nightclubs, weddings, funerals , fishing , interviews. I mean ! who doesn't look good in black
