I think the little brass dots on the underside of the leg where the foot is attatched is the screws poking out. Check out your Lythe Paul, it's the same bud. I've just checked out a few reels and they have the screws visible like that.

 

Must be the old age, I could have sworn I saw pins at right angles to the screws. The word plonker springs to mind amongst others lol
