test curves

Test curves...i dont get it? If a rod has for example a 2lb test curve, does this mean that more than 2lbs of weight exerted through the rod would snap it?

surely not otherwise we'd not be able to use lines of 5lb or more without breaking our rods.

I truly do not understand the mathematics used when considering test curves when selecting a rod. Any guidelines?

fat, stupid hobbit.

It also depends of the nature of the blank, some rods have an understated test cuve and vice versa.

If you're looking to buy a rod, I would recommend that you decide on the type of action that you need or prefer, and then think about testcurves.
