Hi everyone. Great forum this. Done years of coarse fishing but giving Sea Fishing a go after santa dropped me off some kit. (12ft beach-caster, reel, tackle etc). Can anyone give me a clue on best places to fish around North Devon and where I could get info on baits, what a sea bass looks like etc etc.

Depends on if you have transport and what type of transport you have . There are some great marks in the area and some require a 4x4 or a long walk. Dillydangler and my-self go out in the area as much as poss if you want you could join us as i pick paul up in Braunton.

Thanks for the geocities web site. Great help. Bought some bait (squid) yesterday and tied myself a pulley rig!$??. Are you sure these hooks are for fish? Look like whale hooks.

just got back from putsborough.

finished work early and me and a mate were down there by 4.30

nothing for the first hour then it went mental.(i must add that we went out expecting to catch nothing).

the first fish was a whiting just under a pound.a bit odd when we were after bass just casting in to the surf.then i had my first small eye about 3lb, thought it was a decent bass.bl**dy braid.

anyway things got better with my mate having another whiting and then a nice lip hooked bass.(swam away a treat only about a 1lb but braid made fools of us again).

then i had a nice dab.just weighed it 15oz.greedy bugger took a whole sandeel on a 4/0 pennel.

and to sum it up my mate had a small eye a bit smaller than the first one.

i kept the dab (one of the best eaters in the sea) and all the ray swam away nicely.

i will use braid more often on clean ground.i cant help thinking that if we both used mono the bass and the small eyes would of been deeply hooked.

anyway.

whos been or is going out tonight?

a 15oz dab and my first small takes some beating lol.

bring it on
