Can ebay stop anyone from actually purchasing from their site.. i.e. if I have a Paypal account can ebay stop me purchasing an item from ebay with it?

if you're not an ebay member you can't purchase from ebay, but even if you've been barred from ebay i wouldn't imagine it would be that difficult to rejoin with a new account.

but you do have to be a member before you can use ebay, either to buy or sell. ebay membership and having a paypal account are two different things though

Den,

You will need to register with ebay to be able to contact the seller

unless he advertises these in his listing.

To register you only need an email adrress and a user name.

(Only the sellers incure the fees, both ebay and paypal's)

If the seller agrees to sell out side of ebay, he is the only one

at risk from a slap ;)

However, if there are problems with your purchase, faulty, not as discribed,

fake etc you will have no one to turn to.

Link your paypal to ebay and you will get 'some' protection

What are you looking for?

4nlly and jeeps, thanks for replies.

i have purchased stuff from ebay using my paypal acc with no trouble so that is not a problem....but.......

someone "who shall be nameless" :) has "been barred" from ebay and has asked if he can use my acc to purchase goods. I thought it strange that ebay could actually stop him (yes it is a him) from buying goods.

Den,

The only way they could stop him is by refusing to let him have an account.

Your friend could open another account, all he needs is a different

email address/user name. Contact seller before bidding and offer

another meathod of payment other than paypal. Cheque, bank transfer

etc. Doubt the seller would refuse as they would save 4% paypal fees :)

Or if the 'friend'is banned because of this seller? and wants to have a pop

back? ;) In which case in the words of Hagrid (from harry potter)

"i should'nt have said that"
