I think crucians would be a lot more popular if they were more widespread, and especially if didn't have the word carp in their name! Yes they hybridise with common carp, but then bream do so with roach and rudd. All the latter are considered totally different species as they require a different approach - as Budgie and Josh pointed out about crucians.
