From where I come its the CARNATIC CARP. :clap2:

Pound for pound it comes close to giving Mahseer a run for its money.

A bold fish, caught on paste, livebait, plug, spoon and spinner, oh yeah fly as well!!

Cheers,

Indian Angler

Is this a river fish? Have caught mahseer and even though the current has to affect the battle I have never experienced anything like it in freshwater.

Apologies to all for wandering off topic.

You forgot Crucian carp - they are the best looking of all UK residents followed by a pristine common.

Good point, Rudd!

I'm surprised so few rate fully-scaled mirrors though. Perhaps it's because they're uncommon.

How many of those who've answered have caught one?

As a novice, for me it has to be a healthy carp..! Thats all that matters to me, for to catch a carp of any genre or size is a special moment EVERY time.

1st post on the site and I have to say 'WELL DONE'. Full of useful info and tips and very professional in content.

Yes welcome to AN Skipp.

I think you may be right Steve.Despite having caught god knows how many carp of all sizes in several different countries I have only ever caught three fully scaled.Despite having caught a couple of Mirrors (which despite popular opinion I prefer even to big commons) over 50lb the biggest fully scaled at a mere 24lb rates as my favourite carp photo ever.Soon as Ive got the scanner sorted I will put it up so you can see what I mean. The first one I ever caught was down on a pit on Romney Marsh that I used to run despite it being a very hard water and having a reasonable amount of sucsess on it I rated this as probably my best capture from it....and that one was only 17lb something!

Dont personally rate kois and ghosties etc I know its daft considering most waters stocking policies but it just seems to "artificial" for me....crap live baits as well!

Crucians are a great fish but in their own right. I dont think of them in the same way as I do the King carp as the aproach you need is so so different.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

My favorite carp would have to be a nice long grass carp. I like to call them torpedo carp my self due to their long torpedo shape body and how well they like to scrap it out.
