Early season fishing in Sussex...

ain't been crabbing for a couple of years now and My traps went missing from the river!! the weather hasn't been to good for beach crabs lately so hoping to get some new traps up the adur for a back up supply and hopefully pick some up from the beaches for the killer bait until the spiders show!! only problem is lack of transport so i'll have to give my bike a quick service and get cracking soon!

Ollie, bit early for the beach crabs...another few weeks I'd say. To be fair, hounds aren't fussy whether the crabs are from the river or the beach. I bagged up in the last two years with plenty of doubles and I had them on frozen crab. I usually get a few from the beach, if not, a load from the river then freeze em down. That way the bait is always at hand when the fish arrive. And no hassle trying to keep the buggers alive!!

 

I don't mind giving you a lift for crabbing or fishing if you are stuck for transport.

Cheers mate....i may have to take you up on that with a bit of petrol money if you don't mind, gets a bit of a pain in the arse not being able to drive and having to get on the old bike and use pedal power!!! grrrr

 

anyway back to the thread......im also looking forward for the old mullet to come in so a can get a few sessions up the river and try to catch a Pb!! but mind you any mullet up the adur is a bonus these days!!

I did hear of a couple that had been caught at Brighton, nothing big.

I have heard from 2 different sources that a 14lb hound was taken off Shoreham arm last week. Just word of mouth though

Couple of little ones in Worthing, an a 14lb+ at Shoreham. Give it a week or two.

All sounds good to me!!! best get my arse in gear and set my traps up the river.....sounds like i best hurry else it will be to late as usual!!

Selsey bill, we picked up three hounds on whole squid baits meant for bass. have also heard of a few from w.beach on squid and rag but their patchy this early in the year.

won't be long before the bream are in range

 

 

Out of curiosity mate , could you pm me with a good shore mark for Black bream as Im a bit straped this year and wont get an early boat trip in untill My funds pick up. Missing the bream altogether

The Mackies have made their first appearance at the marina and large launces have been caught. Summer species are arriving here in Sussex
