Everyone has their favourites, but you can't beat Daiwa Sensor mono. Snag free and fish to mid 20s, I'd suggest 10-12lb. Personally, I don't llike braid for carp - too much pressure on the hook hold. :)

Never had any trouble with Fox soft steel, great line but currently on X-Line 12lbs and have no complaints, took a while to bed in but now its gad a tug or five it's fine. Everyone will have their own favourites though so be prepared to be even more undecided when this thread ends............

Untill I switched to braid (around 15 years ago) all I ever used was Maxima Chamelion in various BS's depending on the situation.Never had a problem with it.Only use it now when I cant use braid or for snag fishing hook and hold style.Wouldnt hesitate to reccomend it.

That said I have used Daiwa Sensor in 15 for sea fishing and considering it is a lot cheaper than Maxima it isnt to bad at all.See no reason why it wouldnt be ok for carping.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

Yeah I'm with Budgie i use Maxima all most all the time, but i have personally found anything betwen 3lb and 8lb breaking strain doesn't seem to last so long always found it goes very fraid(only way i can describe it sorry) after a month or so,so I'm changing the lines on my spools quite often(only seem to have this probalam on 4lb,5lb and 6lb never tryed the 7lb).

Another one i'd recomend is Fox Camo Soft Steel only used this in the 10lb breaking strain but it seems to be fine .

X line every time, expensive but well worth it mate :sun:

RRP = £29.99 for 600m isn't tooooo bad but check out the monthlies cos I've clocked it on offer at £19.99 from one of the retailers, think it may have been Bowlers.
