Bob, if your looking for a lever drag/level wind reel - the Shimano Charter Specials ain't bad for the money £80. Got the 2000LD last year and loaded it with 30lb braid - no problems so far.

Just had a look on Veals and from what I can see the Charter special is only a couple of pounds cheaper than TLD15 and carries less line.

 

At the monent my choice is between the Shimano TLD15 at £89.00, the Penn Penn 320LD at £100 (Bit pricy) or the Okuma Titus TL15 at £65.00.

 

Having just bought the Titus TL50 from someone on this board and having a liking for "Sets" of stuff I am tempted to go for the Titus.

No worries, Bob - but the TLD doesn't have level wind .

 

I prefer the 7000 size reels as a 'standard' size as its more balanced with 12-20lb class rods that I tend to use.

I forgot to mention I already have a light rod and reel for Pollock, Mackeral, summer Red Cod etc.

 

Didn't spot the no level wind so the Titus it is. I will order it tommorow, just hope the missus doesn't spot the two deliveries.

bob try gerrys of morcambe got my titus 50L from there for £90 inc p&p.

it handles 6olb conger in a 5meter racing tide no problems,

now thats value for money

 

i too was looking at the tld25 but i couldnt justify the extra cash for in my mind no xtra gain ,
