big flatties

OK, time to fess up.... although some of you may have guessed what I've been planning anyway 'cos I've made enough comments :P

The first week of May, 1st to 5th, Simon is coming up and we are going to have a serious shot at catching a common skate from a kayak

The location will be Lochaline and we'll be fishing about 400yds offshore in the Sound of Mull, 1/2 mile from launch point in about 400ft of water.

Just to add some variety we are planning a bit of camping in a remote bay in the second half of the week. Its a 5mile paddle and we'll have to carry eveything in the yaks.

Obviously this will all be very dependant on the weather.... we can but hope.

Is anybody interested ... and more importantly willing and able..... to join us?

The more baits in the water the better the chance of success.... and dare I say it the more more yaks on hand.... well its just plain safer :)

There is a chance we might be able to get a support boat to come along, but as its midweek maybe not.

Drop me a PM if you are seriously interested and want more details :)

Hope you mean May otherwise you've missed each other :D

Wish that I could join you, sounds like a great trip especially with a bit of camping to add to the excitement. Wish you luck and look forward to the pictures.

Word of warning, take your own tent, don't share with the Everett, and watch out for his soap trick :D

I'd love to come up for this but it may be some time before my new yak is here and rigged and ready. Have recently bought a new tent for kayak fishing/camping - plan to camp out near my potential Purbeck tope mark to break the paddle up.

Good luck with the skate trip.

Simon, if you want to borrow one you are welcome to. I have a spare in the form of the Prowler 13 I shall probably take the scupper becuase of the enormous cargo hatch - easier to stuff the gear in. The hatch on the Dorado is a bit of a job to stuff everything through - plenty of room once through the neck. Big, slippery fish are much easier!

Thanks Simon.

I'll give it some serious thought.... Donna's family are from Glasgow so she could do the bulk of the driving and stay up in bonnie Scotland for a few days whilst I go fishing.

Her family is visiting us down here this week.. I will wait till they've left then 'sell her the idea' ;)

Watching this thread with interest. I'm working on the 1st I think, but that would just about pay for the trip... very very tempting.
