Think ill give it a go tmo night anyway,can only try and hope for the best.

You mention night. I ought to point out that perch rarely feed at night. It's not unknown, but not really worth the effort. Dawn and dusk though..... well they're a different matter!

Many thanks guys and especially steve, a true perch legend. I am going to leave it for a couple of weeks to see if the spawning theory is correct and also to let the water temp rise (sunny jockland). I had a short session this afternoon flicking small spinners on a local river and had 3 brownies to just under a pound, nice to feel a fish on the end of the line again.. :)

 

Out of curiosity, where on a small pond would perch spawn?,no visible weedbeds/features etc?

Usually in weebeds and on submerged branches. Most small ponds have overhanging trees so there would be a good bet.
